Licence

CC BY 4.0 covers the selection of companies, the structure, the concept coding and the metadata. The value wordings are short quotations of the companies' own public pages; they remain the companies', each row links to its source, and the licence makes no claim over them.

What it covers

721 English-language technology companies, read between 2026-08-16 and 2026-10-04. It is not a sample of the market. 408 of the companies (57%) came from a corpus of product and design job adverts collected by the author; the rest were drawn from 21 named lists (index constituents, the Y Combinator directory, Wikidata and a few hand-picked lists), each recorded per company in the frame column. Companies that publish no values list are included, so the rate of publishing is part of the data: 465 of 721 publish one.

Things to know before using it

Concepts are one person's coding. Each value carries one concept, assigned by ordered rules with hand-coded corrections on top; coded_by says which. Nobody else has checked the coding, and 128 values match no concept.

Two standards of evidence. Rows marked seed-hand were collected by a person before every value was checked word for word against its page, and some paraphrase it; their date_read is the date they were recorded. Later rows passed that check or were read by hand from the page.

Size bands are coarse. Headcount is published only as 1-50, 51-500, 501-5000 or 5001+, read by hand at collection time.

This is what companies say, not what they do. A values page is a published claim; nothing here measures whether it holds.
